De Struise Beer night
@ DeCicco's
5/24/13 @ 5-10pm
This is one of the most exciting events that we have ever had the pleasure of
hosting. We were able to get our hands on 6 kegs from one of the most renowned
breweries in the world. We are very lucky and excited to host this event. This
is a very rare opportunity and will certainly be a highlight event in many of
our beer drinking experiences. A little about the brewery… Set up by two friends
and a Brother-in-Law who started brewing beer in a barn at a local farm. Went
commercial in 2003, but with no capital the beers were brewed on the Brasserie
Caulier Plant. In February 2006, the decision was taken to move production to
the Flemish SA Deca Brewery in Woesten-Vleteren (working) parts of which date
from 1917.
Tap List (Subject to change):
* Pannepot Grand Reserva (10.0% ABV) A barrel-aged version of the Pannepot
released each year and vintage dated.
* Black Albert (13.0% ABV) A strong stout inspired by the British Imperial Stout
tradition as revived by American microbrewers. Described as a "Belgian Royal
Stout" and made with ingredients of only Belgian origin. Bitterness of 100 IBU,
deep black color of 160 EBC. Named for Belgian King Albert II.
* Cuvée Delphine (13.0% ABV) A limited bottling of the Black Albert aged in Four
Roses Bourbon barrels. Named after the eponymous king's alleged illegitimate
daughter, Belgian artist Delphine Boël. Featuring a label by the artist reading
"Truth Can Set You Free".
* Rio Reserva (11.0% ABV) This ale was brewed back in 2008, and in collaboration
with brew master Rychei Sugawa San from Rio Brewing & Co. Our goal was to brew a
Belgian dark golden blond quadrupel with an enormous potential of aromas and
flavors, and added complexity due to oak barrel aging. Bourbon barels from
Kentucky were chosen due to their very special soft roast quality and noble
vanilla flavors. Year upon year, different quality controls were executed, and
we finally decided to bottle condition this very special ale in May 2012.
Another three moths of cold maturing was done at the brewery, so we could be
sure about the absolute quality before releasing to our customers.
*Pannepøt - Old Monk’s Ale – Pannepeut (10.0% abv) Pannepøt (read Pannepeut) is
a beer specially brewed and named as a wink to the Danish market presented at
the Danish beer festival ’Københavnske Øldage 2006’ exclusively at Ølbutikkens
stand. It is produced to express the brewers gratitude to all the Danish beer
amateurs that drink their products daily. Pannepøt has later been available on
draught and bottles at bars and shops in Belgium & Denmark. Since winter 2006,
this beer’s popularity kept growing in Belgium at such a level that the
production today equals Pannepot.
* Struiselensis (6.0% ABV) A blonde sour ale finished with wild Brettanomyces
bruxellensis yeast. |
